Surgery Number 6 (Last One!)

We have had an interesting trip this time.  So far our flight has been cancelled, delayed, and we had to stay overnight in Atlanta.  I wasn't sure if we were going to make it in time for Noah's appointment yesterday, but here we are...surgery day.  Noah was just taken back for surgery and it should be about 2 hours and then he will be finished with surgeries.

These are pictures of Noah after he has taken his sleepy meds.  He can barely keep his eyes open!

Surgery 5 Update

We are back home after surgery 5 and Noah is doing great.  He is enjoying his summer break and hanging hour with cousins.  To the left is a picture of Noah's ear a week after surgery...it looks so good.  He was so excited and asked just about every minutes to look at his ear in a mirror.

Thank you so much everyone for all of your gifts.  We could not have gotten through any of these surgeries without your support.  We only have one more surgery and it is scheduled for October 11, 2011.  I can't wait...so excited for Noah to be finished with surgery and have his finished ears.

Thank you!

We got back from California about three weeks ago and we have seen our local plastic surgeon. He said that everything looks really good and Noah’s ear is healing well. A lot of the swelling has gone down and the skin graft is starting to turn a pink color like healthy skin.

Noah has been working really hard this to catch up on his homework. All of the first graders at school made get well cards for him. He was so excited and read each one of them.

He has been back to school for a few weeks now and he is excited about spring break. All of his friends were really excited to see him.

I think he is excited about having his ears finished after this surgery. He asked me the other day if we were going back for the other side.

Surgery Went Well

Noah had his stage 3 left ear surgery yesterday and it went very well.  When he finally woke up about 2 hours after he was  brought into recovery.  He immediately wanted a popsicle and chicken noodle soup.  We stayed the night at the surgery center and he never said he had any pain.  He didn't sleep very well last night and he watched Scooby Doo cartoons on and off throughout the night.

We were released from the surgery center at 7:15 this morning, came back to the hotel and have been just relaxing and taking it easy today.  Noah has watched cartoons pretty much all day.  The hotel had a package waiting for Noah at the front desk this afternoon.  It was filled with toys and a Get Well Soon card from the staff.  The Staybridge Suites staff is really awesome!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone!

We are into the new year and already making plans for Noah's next surgery.  We go back to California Feb 8th for Stage 3, left side.  This time Dr. Brent will lift Noah's ear off of his head and put a skin graft on the underside.  We are excited and anxious all at the same time.  We have made all the arraigments for this trip and are just waiting for the date.  There has been just enough money raised to get us through travel arraingements and deposits for this surgery.  We will be in California for a week and a half this surgery.

On another note, Noah had an appointment with a endocrinologist today.  His pediatrician is concerned about his size and the rate that he is growing.  The endocrinologist didn't see anything that looked abnormal in the physical, but they are doing more tests.  They took a large amount of blood today and he got a little pale and light headed, but he never teared up...even when they took the blood.  He is such a big boy!

Thank you everyone for your support and we hope you have a wonderful 2011!
